FS5 now upgraded with the Sony RAW license. The FS5 is able to export up to 4K as 12-bit Raw via SDI. This is a major improvement on the 4:2:0 8-bit which it records internally off-the-shelf. Kit Hire page is updated with details equipment I have available to hire directly to productions.
Sony FS5 now available with Canon lenses and Metabones adapters – please see kit page for details and rates of all my kit.
The FS5 is a great camera for small documentary and broadcast studio work, and as perfect as nifty B-camera for bigger productions. It produces a solid broadcast quality picture at 50MB/s with options for grading plus it has a cached high-speed ability retaining 10-bit 4:2:2 up to 240fps at 1080P.
High-end work, especially in the studio, is also possible by recording RAW to an external recorder.
When stock arrives in the UK I’ll be offering Sony FS5 – XAVC full HD 422 at 50mb/s for self produced jobs and lightweight documentary work. Apparently there has been a production bottleneck caused by factory earthquake damage in Japan.
This camera is great for such a small package – for speedy doc work I particularly like the variable ND and the wifi monitoring. Several reviews have mentioned how great these cameras are on battery life too.
